Vancouver Police officer arrested in domestic-related assault incident

AN off-duty Vancouver Police officer has been arrested for allegations of assault and unlawful confinement in Maple Ridge.

On the afternoon of January 23, a woman attended the Ridge Meadows RCMP Detachment and reported that she had been the victim of a domestic-related assault. The man responsible for the alleged assault was reported to be an off-duty Vancouver Police officer.

The VPD was advised of the allegations and in turn notified the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner.

On Friday night, Ridge Meadows RCMP officers attended the man’s home where he was arrested.

The officer has been a member of the force for 10 years and has been removed from front line duties, pending the results of the investigation, Vancouver Police said.

The incident is being investigated by the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
