The SIU launched the investigation in March 2022 following a complaint from the Canada Revenue Agency that one of its employees had compromised taxpayer information.

On January 29, 2026, Yoan Zola, 35 years of age, was arrested and charged in Vancouver with the following offences:

  • Breach of trust
  • Trafficking in identity information
  • Identity theft
  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Fraudulent personation
  • Use of a credit card obtained by crime

He was released on bail conditions. His next appearance in Vancouver Provincial Court is on April 16.

The victims impacted by this matter have been informed. As this investigation is now before the courts, no further details will be provided, police said.
