A man has been charged in connection to Thursday’s stabbing in New Westminster.
New Westminster Police were called to the 400-block of Carnarvon on June 29, where they located a woman who had been stabbed. Officers rushed to provide life-saving aid before the victim was transported to a local area hospital by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics. The Major Crime Unit was deployed and took conduct of the investigation.
On the evening of June 29, Wael Elkady of New Westminster was arrested and is now charged with aggravated assault, police said on Friday.
Elkady remains in custody and the investigation remains ongoing. The victim and suspect are known to each other and there is not believed to be any risk to the public.
“Our detectives continue to gather evidence and speak to witnesses” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “These are complex investigations, and our Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section are working hard to piece together what happened”.
