Ryan Nagy, 19, of Burnaby identified as victim in Thursday’s targeted homicide

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Friday identified the victim of Thursday’s homicide in Burnaby as 19-year-old Ryan Nagy of Burnaby, in hopes of advancing its investigation.

“We believe this was a targeted incident,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “We’re asking that anyone who had recent contact with Mr. Nagy, to contact IHIT immediately, as we build a timeline of events leading up to this tragedy.”

On June 29 at 7:05 a.m., Burnaby RCMP received a report of an incident at a residence in the 7600-block of 17 Avenue. Police located Nagy, associated to the residence, suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Despite the best efforts of the first responders, the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene. A second victim was located with non-life-threatening injuries.

IHIT took conduct of the investigation and has continued to work closely in partnership with the Burnaby RCMP Detachment, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).
