ON Saturday, August 3, Squamish RCMP responded to a drowning in Porteau Cove Provincial Park. Bystanders and first responders attempted life-saving measures but, unfortunately, the man died at the scene.

Squamish RCMP have notified the man’s next of kin of his passing. Officers determined that there was no criminality and have turned the investigation over to the BC Coroner Service.

“Squamish RCMP would like to thank all those who assisted in the rescue attempt,” said Cpl. Brett Urano, RCMP spokesperson. “Our condolences go out to the family and friends of this man during this tragic incident.”
