Man shot and killed in Burnaby

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called to Burnaby after a shooting which has left one man deceased.

Just after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 5500-block of Kingsway, near Denbigh Avenue. Police located a man suffering from serious gunshot wounds. Police and first responders attempted lifesaving measures; however, the man was pronounced dead on scene a short time later.

Police have secured the scene and will remain in the area as the investigation continues.

At this time, investigators believe the shooting was targeted and there are no further risks to the public from this incident.

Homicide investigators are looking for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video in the area of Kingsway and Denbigh Avenue on January 23 between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
