Male known to police dead in Maple Ridge shooting

THE Integrated Investigation Team was called to Maple Ridge after an early morning shooting on Friday left one male dead.

On Friday, December 22, at around 6a a.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to multiple calls of shots fired. Police found that a man was shot and died as a result of his injuries.

This appears to be a targeted event and there are no indications of further threats to public safety at this time, police said.

They said that the victim was known to police, but did not reveal his name.

The victim reportedly drove to the Ridge Meadows Hospital where he died. Police seized the vehicle for forensic examination. It was a Kia sedan and its back window was smashed.

The victim – a white male – has been identified on social media.
