A generous donation has been made to Mission Memorial Hospital (MMH) for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment.
Mission Health Care Auxiliary has helped to fund next-generation technologies and facility enhancements at the hospital for more than a century. The Auxiliary has helped the hospital in purchasing: a blanket warmer; a bariatric stretcher; a scope cabinet; and different types of wheelchairs. Their continued support is rooted in their humanitarian support towards service of community.
The organisation, created in the 1920s with humble beginnings, has continuously provided support to the hospital by building better health care for the people of Mission. Auxiliary leadership team member Alyce Campbell echoes the long-time passion of service, saying, “It is a pleasure to be part of our community, to be able to raise funds to support MMH and The Residence in Mission (TRIM). To me, this isn’t about giving back, it’s about something I love to do, work with people”.
And their support is very widely appreciated by all those in the hospital space. As Trevor King, patient ambassador at MMH, states: “A thank you to the Mission Health Care Auxiliary. This is great equipment to add to our inventory to loan out to those in Mission who need it.”
The Mission Health Care Auxiliary has a wonderful gift shop and thrift shop in the community of Mission that supports the hospital, and the community could not be more grateful for all that they do. As the saying goes, “volunteers don’t necessarily have the time; they have the heart”.
Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation relies on gifts from the community to strengthen the organisation and provide an investment for people’s future health and wellness. To support projects like this one, contact Dr. Lakhbir Jassal at: Lakhbir.Jassal@fraserhealth.ca.
