INVESTIGATORS of the Major Collision Bureau of Ontario’s Peel Regional Police are seeking the public’s assistance in their investigation into a vehicle collision with a pedestrian.
On Tuesday, October 17, at approximately 2:23 p.m., the victim was walking on the east sidewalk of McLaughlin Road south of Kingknoll Drive in the City of Brampton. At the same time a silver Suzuki sedan travelling northbound on McLaughlin Road left the roadway striking the victim and a streetlight stand on the east side of the road. The victim, a 23-year-old male from Brampton was taken to a Toronto trauma centre. His injuries have since been upgraded to serious but no longer life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to local hospital with minor injuries but later released.
The driver of the vehicle, Anil Sharma, 58 of Mississauga, has been charged with criminal negligence cause bodily harm and dangerous driving cause bodily harm. Sharma was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on October 18.
Investigators are also appealing for any other witnesses who may have witnessed the collision, have dashboard video footage of the incident or who may have information regarding the actions of the driver prior to the collision.
