FROM engaging the audience with his cinematic work to further grabbing their attention with musical treats, Roshan Prince has always been very active in the Punjabi entertainment industry. He will soon be seen in another romantic Punjabi comedy film Munda Faridkotia.
This is his 19th film. The film is produced by Vancouver businessman Daljit Singh Thind and Monty Sikka under the banner of Dalmora Films. Releasing on June 14, ‘Munda Faridkotia’ is directed by Mandeep Singh Chahal.
Starring Sharan Kaur and Navpreet Banga, who is a local Lower Mainland resident, along with Prince, the movie looks promising from its trailers. As the name suggests, it is a story about a boy from Faridkot, a town in Punjab.
“The biggest twist of the movie is that there are two Faridkots. One is in Punjab and another one is situated in Pakistan. The movie unfolds the story of this boy who belongs to Punjab’s Faridkot but lands in Pakistan’s Fardikot,” Prince told the media this week at Royal King Banquet Hall in Surrey. “There are many twists and turns in the movie which will make you cry and laugh at the same time.”
Prince said that gone was the time when people placed Punjabi movies as their last options. “This is the golden time for Punjabi cinema when people are going to theatres to watch Punjabi movies just like big budget Bollywood movies. This in turn has encouraged artists like us to give meaningful and quality Punjabi cinema to audience,” he said.
Munda Fardikotiya, too, is the result of the hard work of many renowned artists like BN Sharma Karamjit Anmol, BN Sharma, Rupinder Rupi and Sumit Gulati.
Daljit Thind told the media: “This movie is about love and tolerance in the turbulent time we live in. There are two cities by the same name in India and Pakistan. People across the border are same, too; only the situations change. Through this movie we want to spread the message of love between the two countries.”
Music for the film has been composed by Jaidev Kumar. Roshan Prince himself has sung two songs along with the title track. Another song, titled ‘Utth Farida’, has been performed by Sardar Ali. Jaidev Kumar scored the music for it. Beside Sardar Ali and Jaidev Kumar, the track credit also goes to Baba Farid, who penned it. It is a qawwali trying to wake the sleeping spirit of a man. It is sure to tug at your heartstrings.
