A Vancouver Police investigation has led to 19 criminal charges against a suspect in a violent robbery at a Yaletown nightclub last year.
VPD launched the investigation on April 9, 2023, after two suspects entered the club after closing time, threatened staff with a gun and knife, and stole $25,000 in cash. Six victims had their hands zap-strapped and were forcibly confined. One victim was seriously assaulted and suffered a life-altering injury.
Nasir Hussain Syed, 27, has been charged with the following:
- Six counts of unlawful confinement
- Four counts of robbery
- Two counts of possession of a firearm without a license
- One count of disguising face with intent
- One count of aggravated assault
- One count of use of imitation firearm
- One count of possession of a non-firearm knowing it is unauthorized
- One count of occupying a vehicle knowing a firearm is present
- One count of possession of a restricted firearm
- One count of possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
Syed has been released from custody until his next court appearance.
The investigation into the additional suspects remains ongoing.
