WITH the success of the Neighbourhood Clinics at Bear Creek Park and Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex last week, the Newton Recreation Centre (13730 – 72 Avenue) will be the site of the latest Neighbourhood Clinic in Surrey. In partnership with Fraser Health and the Province, the Newton Recreation Centre Neighbourhood Clinic will be held on the following days:
- Friday, May 28
- Monday, May 31
- Tuesday, June 1
“With the Restart plan outlined by the Province earlier this week, it is clear that the best and quickest way to speed things back to normal is to get vaccinated,” said Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum. “This latest Neighbourhood Clinic at the Newton Recreation Centre is another option for Surrey residents to get immunized. We had a tremendous turnout at the Neighbourhood Clinics held last week, and I am confident that we will have similar success over the three days at the Newton Recreation Centre. If you have not received your shot, I invite you to come on down and get the jab.”
Clinics will be open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or until all vaccines are distributed. Priority is given to Surrey residents receiving their first dose. To avoid long waits for people, Surrey residents arriving each day will receive wristbands from organizers and a same day appointment. Clinic staff will confirm ID to ensure vaccine priority is given to people living in Surrey. Staff will also be available to help people register and book appointments at other clinics throughout Surrey if needed.
The Surrey Neighbourhood Clinics are a complement to the appointment-based clinics currently operating throughout the City, and community partnerships at gurdwaras and mosques. More information can be found here.
