SURREY Police Service (SPS) is investigating an early morning shooting at a residence in the Newton neighbourhood that belongs to Arvind Khosa, the newly elected president of Canada Cricket that has been shrouded in controversy.
On May 20 at approximately 4:40 a.m., SPS frontline officers responded to reports of a shooting near 57 Avenue and 148 Street. Police noted damage to a residence and evidence of shots fired. The residence was occupied at the time of the shooting and fortunately no one was injured.
The investigation is in its early stages; however, it is believed to be extortion related, police said.
SPS’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) has taken over the lead on the investigation, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) will be in the area processing physical and digital evidence.
Anyone with information about this incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage, or who may know the identities of the suspects is asked to contact SPS’ non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca and quote file number 26-49687 (SP).

There were 44 extortion threats reported in January, 17 in February, 14 in March and 20 in April.
There were 10 extortion-related shots fired incidents in January, one in February, three in March and two in April.
