IN loving memory, we announce the peaceful passing of Surjito Kaur Chima on November 21, 2023, surrounded by her family in Coquitlam, BC. Surjito is survived by her devoted husband of 73 years, Joginder Singh Chima, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surjito was born March 25, 1935 at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. At the age of 3, her father made the difficult decision to send her along with her mother and siblings to India during World War II. Following her marriage, they returned to Canada in 1957, accompanied by their eldest son, embarking on a journey to create a new life filled with opportunities for their family. Throughout her life, Surjito navigated transitions with resilience, and fought steadfastly for what was right, leaving behind a legacy of strength and lasting inspiration.

Her legacy lives on the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a profound collection of memories and a long-lasting impact on the lives she touched.

The funeral service for Surjito Chima will be held on November 30th, 2023 at 2:30pm at Riverside Funeral and Crematorium in Delta, BC. Following the service, a prayer ceremony will take place at Akali Singh Sikh Society in Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food bank.
