Oil spill in Surrey causes minor collisions

SURREY RCMP are currently on the scene of an oil spill in the southbound lanes of 152 Street between Fraser Highway and 88 Avenue.

On Wednesday, at approximately 12:35 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to reports of two separate collisions resulting from that oil spill.

Police said that the collisions were minor and resulted in minor injuries to vehicle occupants.

Traffic in the area will be affected for the next few hours. The City of Surrey work crews are attending to clean up the oil.

A road closure is in effect for 152 Street southbound, between Fraser Highway and 88 Avenue. The public are requested to avoid the area until further notice. An updated release will be provided when the road has been re-opened.
