One dead in Surrey apartment fire

AT approximately 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Surrey RCMP received a report from a person of a structure fire in an apartment building in the 13600-block of 107A Avenue. Police found a suite on the lower floor of the building fully engulfed, and advised Surrey Fire Department.

Surrey RCMP and Surrey Police Service members evacuated the building, but were unable to make entry into the suite where the fire is believed to have originated. Surrey Fire Department attended and quickly extinguished the fire, and located a deceased person inside.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there is currently no indication that the fire was suspicious, police said.
