One person arrested at ongoing demonstrations in Burnaby

ON Thursday, September 23, one person was arrested in relation to ongoing demonstrations in Burnaby.

The demonstrator had trespassed into a fenced area on private property owned by BNSF Railway, in violation a court ordered injunction stating they could not obstruct, impede, or otherwise prevent access to Trans Mountain work sites.

The demonstrator was given the opportunity to leave the area voluntarily, but chose not to. She was safely arrested just before 10 a.m.

Burnaby RCMP once again reminded those who are involved in ongoing demonstrations that police are an impartial party and are there to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Demonstrators have a right to lawful, peaceful and safe protest and companies have a right to complete their work.

Burnaby RCMP say they are working hard to ensure that these rights are protected and that all parties and the public are kept safe.
