COMMUNITY organizations Surrey for Future, the Climate Clock, SPARK Foundation, Force of Nature Alliance and For Our Kids will be hosting an online #GreenandJustRecovery Town Hall on Thursday, June 25.
Surrey youth who are taking the lead in fighting for climate justice in our city will co-host the Town Hall. They will pose questions to local representatives Ken Hardie, MP for Fleetwood-Port Kells, Jinny Sims, MLA for Surrey-Panorama, and Surrey City Councillor Steven Pettigrew. Community members will also have the opportunity to submit questions about the #GreenandJustRecovery.
The federal and provincial governments are putting billions into the economic recovery from COVID-19, giving us a huge opportunity to make change.
A #GreenandJustRecovery would focus these investments into renewable energy projects, training and transition for those who work in high-carbon industries, and health, education, and food support systems that recognize the fundamental value of those systems and the dignity of those who work in them.
