15-year-old female pedestrian dies in collision in Burnaby

A 15-year-old female pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Cariboo Road in Burnaby on Wednesday at approximately 7:10 a.m.

Burnaby RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services immediately attended and the female was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Police said that at this stage it is too early to say what may have caused the collision and the area around the 7200-block of Cariboo Road will remain closed as the investigation continues.

At this time it is believed that the female was an international student and was not attending school in Burnaby.
