THE Vancouver Police Department is investigating after a cyclist struck two people in a crosswalk in downtown Vancouver.
About 5:30 p.m. on Monday, a couple visiting from the United States was crossing West Cordova at Richards Street. They reportedly had the right of way when a cyclist heading east on Cordova Street struck both of them.
The 72-year-old male pedestrian lost consciousness and had to be transported to Vancouver General Hospital for emergency surgery. He remains in stable but critical condition. His wife suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
The cyclist was not hurt and remained on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
