Pedestrian-involved collision in Abbotsford

ON Tuesday at 6:45 p.m., Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to the 32900-block of George Ferguson Way for a reported collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. Emergency service workers located a single vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on the roadway.

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital via air ambulance. The driver, although shaken, was not injured, He remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.

Police said the pedestrian is a 69-year-old man from Abbotsford.  At the time of the collision, he was crossing the roadway through moving traffic and was not in a crosswalk.

Alcohol is not a factor in this collision. The roadway is expected to be closed for several hours.

Abbotsford Police patrol officers, with the assistance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and
Reconstruction Service (ICARS), remain on the scene and are in the early stages of this
investigation. George Ferguson Way is currently closed in both directions between
Ware Street and Trafalgar Street. Abbotsford Police said they will provide an update on their social media once the road reopens.

Investigators seek witnesses and dashcam footage from those who may have been
