ON Monday at 6:54 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a serious motor vehicle collision at 76 Avenue near 151A Street.

A pedestrian who started crossing the street was struck by a vehicle heading westbound on 76 Avenue. The elderly pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries. She remains in hospital

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing as investigators gather traffic camera footage and witness accounts.

Police said 76 Avenue between 151A Street and 152 Street will be closed for several hours.
