Pedestrian-involved hit-and-run in Surrey’s Newton area

ON Monday, January 12 at 10:32 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 12200-block of 82 Avenue in Newton. The suspect vehicle, a smaller model SUV, was making a right turn southbound onto 122A Street when it struck the pedestrian.

The vehicle stopped momentarily, then proceeded to flee south on 122A Street. The vehicle appears to be dark grey or black in colour and will likely have sustained front-end damage.

An adult female pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with severe injuries.

Police are currently on scene canvassing for witnesses and video. Anyone with more information, including dash cam footage from the area of 122A Street and 82 Avenue between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-20946.
