PETER Milobar, MLA for Kamloops Centre, on Friday announced that he has left the B.C. Conservative caucus and will sit as an Independent member in the House.

Milobar said in a statement: “Since 2017, I have been entrusted by the residents of Kamloops and the area to be their voice in Victoria. I completely respect the vote of the membership, and that [B.C. Conservative Leader] Kerry-Lynne Findlay has earned the right as leader to shape the party as she sees fit.”

He added: “It has, however, become clear to me over the last few months that my values don’t align with this new direction. With that in mind, effective immediately, I will be sitting as an Independent member of the B.C. Legislature.”

Milobar said: “What matters most to me hasn’t changed — serving the people of Kamloops Centre. I’ll have more to say about the road ahead in the days to come.”
