INTERNATIONALLY known as a highly versatile and outstanding “ustad” Punjabi poet Harbhajan Singh Bains urged the upcoming writers and poets to write more qualitative and meaningful poetry in place of writing too much and off-the-track material as is the trend with most of the writers and poets of the day.

Bains said this at a special “kavi darbar” and welcome meeting arranged to honor him by local writers and admirers on April 17 at Surrey’s Gurdwara Dasmesh Darbar. Appreciating all writers and poets, Harbhajan Singh urged them to study the works of great poets and writers to get the desired inspiration and  insight to improve their vision on writing for the betterment of Punjabi language.

With the masterly and rhythmic recitation of his several poems on diverse themes, Bains as usual kept the listeners spellbound. Local poets also recited their poems on the creation of Khalsa on Vaisakhi Day by Guru Gobind Singh, sacrifice, patriotism, love and unity. In this respect Harchand Singh Bagri, Parminder Kaur Bagri, Jaswinder Kaur, Rajwant Singh Bagri, Giani Kewal Singh Nirdosh, Pritpal Singh Gill, Jiwan Singh Rampuri Mangat, Gurcharan Singh Gill Mansoor, Gian Singh Kotli and others also recited their poems and exchanged views relating to the betterment of Punjabi poetry and language. Kotli also recited his poem about the mastery of rhyme and rhythm in Bains’ poetry.
