AT about 12 p.m., Surrey RCMP were advised by BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) of an unsubstantiated report of a violent domestic incident in the 14600 block of 17A Avenue. Patrol officers, along with the Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT) and Integrated Police Dog Services (IPDS), responded immediately and were on scene within a couple minutes.
Nearby schools, H.T. Thrift Elementary, Semiahmoo Senior Secondary, as well as the South Surrey Indoor Pool are locked down as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.
“These types of incidents can be unnerving when they occur in your neighborhood,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “Our officers are highly trained and experienced in dealing with these types of situations. Community safety is the paramount consideration.”
Surrey RCMP is currently investigating this matter and has not been able to confirm the original call made to BCAS. More details will be released as they become available.
