Port Moody Police investigating residential break-ins over Christmas holidays

ON the evening of December 23, Port Moody Police responded to two reported break-and-enters at two residences in the Ravine Drive area. Both were unoccupied homes. Valuables were stolen.

The incidents are believed to have taken place some time between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., and a vehicle of interest has been identified (see photo).The vehicle is believed to be a newer model silver Hyundai Elantra or Toyota Corolla. Police are seeking CCTV and dash camera footage in the neighbourhood at the time of the incident.

On the evening of December 25, police responded to a similar style break-and-enter at a College Park residence. This incident also remains under investigation.

And in the early hours of December 27, police were called to a possible break-in taking place at a residence off Ioco Road. Frontline officers were able to arrest the suspect – a 19-year-old Coquitlam resident who is known to police – after a brief foot pursuit. The suspect had multiple tools in their possession and charges relating to the attempted break-in are being recommended. This incident is not believed to be linked to the three previous incidents which remain under investigation.

“We are notifying our community of the uptick in these occurrences in hopes that residents and neighbours remain extra vigilant,” said Constable Sam Zacharias. “Anyone with information about any of these break-ins is asked to contact us or CrimeStoppers, and please report any suspicious activity to us immediately.”
