PREMIER John Horgan on Tuesday wished all those celebrating Holi and Hola Mohalla, throughout British Columbia and around the world, a joyous and colourful festival.
He said: “This week, British Columbians around the province will be celebrating the Hindu spring festival, Holi. This time of the year is also celebrated by the Sikh community as Hola Mohalla.
“Also known as the Festival of Colour, Holi signifies the arrival of spring and a time to laugh, sing, dance and mend broken relationships. It is also a time to reflect on the triumph of good over evil.
“Many people around the world will celebrate Holi by gathering together to eat gujiya and dahi vada, light bonfires and paint each other with brightly coloured dyes. Holi reminds us of the importance of fun, play and eliminating the divisions between us by colouring everyone equally.”
Horgan added: “Holi Hai!”
