RCMP continue efforts to locate 13-year-old female in Cultus Lake incident

CHILLIWACK RCMP said on Monday that they are continuing efforts to locate the 13-year-old female believed to have entered the water after falling from a paddleboard on Cultus Lake on Saturday, August 8.

The search continued throughout the weekend with the support of Chilliwack Search and Rescue. The RCMP E Division Underwater Recovery Team (URT) has now attended the area and is assisting in the ongoing response.

Entrance Bay remains closed to facilitate these operations. The public, including boaters, is asked to stay clear of the area and avoid interfering with responders. Due to the heavy silt on the lake bottom, any disturbance can significantly reduce underwater visibility and hinder work being conducted in the area.

At approximately 1:21 p.m., on August 8, Chilliwack RCMP received a report of the female who was reportedly floating on a paddleboard when she reportedly suffered a medical emergency. She was not wearing a life jacket and is believed to have entered the water as she fell off the paddleboard.
