THE 2023 Surrey Mayor’s Evening of Giving on November 3 set a record for funds raised for Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society. The event was hosted by Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke and surpassed its goal of raising $500,000 (final tally still be counted).
“I am grateful for the tremendous support we received at the 2023 Surrey Mayor’s Evening of Giving,” said Locke. “The event celebrated the profound impact of the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society and their tireless efforts to meet the needs of our community. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, including our presenting sponsors, Coast Capital and Peter Wall Financial Corporation for their generous contributions, as well as everyone who participated in the live auction, silent auction, and contributed to ticket sales. Together, we have surpassed our goal and set a record for funds raised that will go to make a positive impact on the lives of Surrey’s children, youth, and families.”
Funds raised from the Mayor’s Evening of Giving will contribute to a variety of Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society programs, particularly the nutritional snack program.
“The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society is so grateful for this support. These funds will have an incredible impact, particularly on for the School Nutrition Program,” said Saverio Lattanzio, President of Surrey Fire Fighters’ Association. “The resources required for this program have increased exponentially due to the growth in the number of students and the rising cost of food. We thank Mayor Locke and Council for choosing the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society and for their support to better the lives of the people of Surrey.”
The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society was founded in 1994, working to fulfill unmet needs of the community with a focus on Surrey’s children, youth and families. For more information visit surreyfirefighters.com/charitablesociety.
