THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Tuesday identified last weekend’s Richmond homicide victim as 23-year old Christopher Singh from Delta.
IHIT said Singh was known to police and had suspected involvement in the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict. However, he did not have a criminal record.
“This incident is confirmed to be a targeted shooting and does not appear to be a random act,” IHIT said.
On Saturday, August 7, at approximately 9:32 a.m., Richmond RCMP responded to area of Cambie Road and No. 8 Road for an unresponsive male in a ditch. Upon arrival, RCMP first responders determined it to be a homicide. IHIT was called in to investigate.
IHIT said its investigators have completed processing the scene with the assistance of the Integrated Forensic Identification Section and Richmond RCMP.
It said that the details of the homicide were being released in an effort to obtain more information. Homicide investigators are looking to speak with anyone with information about Singh.
“A timeline for Mr. Singh’s activities is being established,” said IHIT Sgt. David Lee. “We are asking anyone who may have had contact with Mr. Singh, to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
