ON Monday, July 27 at approximately 8 p.m., Maple Ridge RCMP were dispatched to assist with a medical emergency in the 27800-block of 113 Avenue at Whonnock Lake.
Officers arrived on scene and immediately assisted in life-saving measures for a child who was in medical distress after allegedly falling into the water. Officers were later relieved by attending emergency health services and the child was eventually transported to hospital via air ambulance. The two-year-old child currently remains in hospital.
Police secured the area and took a number of statements from witnesses and individuals on scene and are continuing to investigate. The investigation is still in its early stages. “Our thoughts are with the child and their family at this time,” said the RCMP.
