THE 46-year-old father and his 13-year-old son who were found deceased in a Richmond residence on Friday, December 1 have been identified as Chen family members by a GoFundMe set up for the family.
The beneficiary is named as Pearl Chen. The GoFundMe (www.gofundme.com/f/4ef99e-the-chen-family) had raised more than $30,000 of its $35,000 goal by Monday night.
On November 30 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence in the 6200-block of Goldsmith Drive. Officers located the bodies of the man and his son inside their residence.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said that the initial evidence suggests that this was a targeted incident and the investigators are still working to determine a motive.
IHIT has taken conduct of the investigation and continues to work closely in partnership with the Richmond RCMP, the RCMP Forensic Identification Service and the BC Coroners Service.
This incident occurred at a residence situated in the area of the Rocky View Playground and the London Sports Fields.
“We are asking anyone who may have observed anything suspicious in the area of the Rocky View Playground or the adjoining pathways between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on November 30 to contact IHIT,” said IHIT Sgt. Timothy Pierotti on Saturday. “Also, if you were driving or parked in the area and have dash-camera footage, please contact IHIT immediately.”
