MAPLE Ridge RCMP announced on Monday that a deceased individual recovered in the Fraser River over the weekend is the same individual who was reported to have fallen into the river on April 27 in the 22400-block of River Road near the Port Haney Wharf.
On Sunday, May 31, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to report of a body being seen in the Fraser River on the Katzie First Nation reserve lands. Officers attended and, with assistance from New Westminster Police Service and Search and Rescue, recovered the body.
The deceased individual has now been identified, and investigative efforts have confirmed this to be the same missing individual from this previous incident.
No foul play is suspected at this time, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the deceased individual’s name is not being released, police added.
