Road closure in South Surrey following motor vehicle collision on Highway 99

FRIDAY 1 A.M. UPDATE: Highway 99 is now open to all southbound traffic.

SURREY RCMP are currently on scene at a motor vehicle collision in South Surrey. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, police received numerous 911 calls for a vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 99. Further callers advised that a multi-vehicle collision had occurred.

Police say traffic in the area will be affected for an undetermined time as officers continue their investigation. Highway 99 will be shut down for all southbound traffic and will be diverted off the highway at the King George Boulevard/Crescent Road exit. The public are requested to avoid the area until further notice.

The investigation into the collision is in its early stages. Investigators are seeking witnesses who observed the collision, or who observed the vehicle prior to the collision, to contact the Surrey RCMP. Investigators are also seeking any available dash-cam video.

Fortunately, at this time all injuries appear to be minor in nature.
