SEATTLE, WA – Another match in Seattle, and another Cascadia Cup for Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

The ‘Caps repeated their celebration from 2025 after clinching the regional supporters’ title with a 2-0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field.

Rayan Elloumi’s glorious strike opened the scoring, and a Thomas Müller insurance marker sealed a record ninth title.

With the victory, Whitecaps FC (11W-4D-3L, 37 points) returned to top spot in the MLS Western Conference. Meanwhile, Seattle (7W-3D-9L, 24 points) collected their seventh loss in a row, the longest in the club’s MLS era.

Jesper Sørensen’s best laid plans were forced into an early change, due to a heavy collision between right winger Jeevan Badwal and Seattle left back Nouhou. A substitution under the concussion protocol saw Badwal come off in favour of Rayan Elloumi.

It was a strong first half from Whitecaps FC midfielder Oliver Larraz, as he threated from distance on multiple occasions.

Larraz was also active with his delivery, as his corner directly looped to Müller at the back post. The German legend timed his volley well – it looked headed for glory – until Paul Rothrock used his hip to clear off the line.

Again it was Larraz in the mix, with a strike that was barely a foot away from bending under the crossbar and onto the highlight-reel. That attempt was one of Larraz’s 50 touches during the first half.

When play resumed for the second half, the ‘Caps remained in control. Finally, in the 77th minute, Sabbi juked around a defender to spring Elloumi loose with a sublime pass. One-on-one with Thomas, Elloumi took full advantage to slot into the far corner for 1-0.

Four minutes later inside the box, an indirect free kick was laid off by Larraz to Müller, who expertly whipped the ball around the Seattle wall for a finish in off the far woodwork.

Takaoka collected his ninth clean sheet across all competitions.

Whitecaps FC now get set to return to BC Place for another blockbuster match, as it will pit the first place ‘Caps against the second place Houston Dynamo FC.
