Second person shot and killed in Surrey within 24 hours

ANOTHER person has been shot and killed in Surrey within 24 hours.

On Sunday, December 27, just after 10:30 p.m., Harman Singh Dhesi, 19, who was known to police was found inside his vehicle in Surrey in the area of 137A Street and 90th Avenue with gunshot wounds and later succumbed to his injuries.   

On Monday, December 28, at approximately 7:32 p.m., the Surrey RCMP responded to an incident in the 11000-block of 148A Street. Police located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds and they later succumbed to their injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Section.

Traffic will be affected for an unknown amount of time with 110th Avenue shut down for all traffic between 148th Street and 148A Street and all northbound and southbound traffic on 148A Street shut down to the north of 110th Avenue.

IHIT later tweeted: “A vehicle fire has been reported in #LangleyBC. We’ll be investigating that and homicide through overnight hours. Got info? Got video? Call IHIT”.

The victim was in a taxi. The driver wasn’t injured. Police said the victim was known to police. A dark sedan was seen leaving the area.
