Serious motorcycle collision on Abbotsford’s Sumas Way

ON Tuesday at 7:39 p.m., Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to a serious two-vehicle collision involving a commercial vehicle and a motorcycle on Sumas Way at Mcclary Avenue.

The motorcycle rider sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured, remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

The investigation remains in its early stages and is being led by Abbotsford Police’s patrol branch, with assistance from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS).

Sumas Way remains closed in both directions between the Highway 1 eastbound on-ramp and Barrons Way.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, observed the vehicles prior to the incident along Sumas Way, or may have dash camera footage, to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
