SHARNJIT Singh Gill, President and CEO of Surrey-based VERICO Superior Mortgage Inc., has been ranked 29th in the 2025 list of Best Mortgage Brokers in Canada.
Gill, who has been in the banking and mortgage business for more than 55 years, has been in the top list for the last 15 years.
“I’m 78 and I enjoy my work!” Gill enthuses.
Indeed, it’s been a thrilling and satisfying career for Gill, serving in three countries — India, U.K. and Canada — in 55 years of banking and mortgage.
Gill began his career in 1969 at UCO Bank in India. He migrated to Canada in 1995 and joined Bank of Montreal as Financial Services Manager in 1996, serving in two branches: Surrey and Abbotsford.
Gill became a mortgage broker in 2001.
Gills says: “Our principle is ‘doing what is right for our clients’ — and we also add value to our services.”
“Honesty and hard work go a long way in building trust,” he adds, noting: “We get 85% of our business from our repeat clients.”
Gill points out that reverse mortgage is becoming popular in the Indo-Canadian community. Under this mortgage, homeowners aged 55 and older can get equity even without any income, provided there is equity in the principal house.
Raj Gill has been looking after the Vancouver office for the last nine years, serving Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond areas.
The father (Sharnjit Gill) and son (Raj Gill) team became Top Producer with Envision Credit Union in 2003 with both receiving individual awards.
Sunny Bal, one of his team members, bagged the CMP’s Rising Stars Award 2021 at the young age of 23.
