COQUITLAM RCMP announced on Monday that they are currently investigating a confirmed shooting near Coquitlam Town Centre Mall that took place at approximately 4:06 p.m.

Police said that officers were on scene to secure evidence, interview witnesses and follow up on information. They said it was unclear at this point if there were connections to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict. One male victim was being treated for stab wounds in hospital.

Coquitlam RCMP detectives are being assisted by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C. (CFSEU-BC).
