SHOTS were fired at an Indian restaurant in Maple Ridge on Saturday evening, according to media reports.
Ridge Meadows RCMP have yet to issue any press release on the incident, though it apparently could be related to the ongoing extortion threats that the South Asian business community has been facing in B.C., Alberta and Ontario.
ON Wednesday, Ridge Meadows RCMP in response to an email sent on Monday by The VOICE, said that on September 27 at approximately 3 a.m., they responded to a report of shots fired in the 11700-block of 218th Street in Maple Ridge.
Police said: “Frontline officers attended and extensively patrolled the area before locating evidence of multiple shots being fired at a business in the area. No injuries were reported. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage in the area and canvassing for possible witnesses.
“Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Investigative Support Team (IST) is leading the investigation. The investigation is still in the early stages. No further information will be released.
