Shots fired at New Westminster house

ON Tuesday, at approximately 1:50 a.m., the New Westminster Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at a house in the area of 20th Street and Hamilton Street.

The residents were home at the time of the shooting, but confirm that no one was injured. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and is actively searching for CCTV footage and asking any witnesses to come forward. Investigators are also looking for dash camera footage from anyone who was driving in the area between 1 and 2:30 a.m.

“New Westminster Police Major Crime Detectives are in the early stages of this investigation, and believe it to be an isolated and targeted shooting,” said Sgt. Jeff Scott. “Investigators are working to determine the reason why this location was shot at, but because it is believed to be targeted, there is no apparent risk to the public.”
