THE BC Lions were back at Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place on Saturday night, looking to bounce back from a 34-20 defeat to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers just a week earlier. But the Bombers had other plans.

Down 10-3 early in the second quarter, the Lions suffered a costly mistake. Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli — starting in place of the injured Nathan Rourke — tossed a lateral pass that was dropped. Winnipeg pounced on the loose ball and returned it over 50 yards for a touchdown, stretching their lead to 17-3 and shifting the momentum firmly in their favour.
The Lions’ offense struggled to get going until the closing minutes of the fourth quarter when they finally found the end zone. Despite a late push, BC ultimately fell 27-14, dropping their record to 1-2 on the season.

Masoli finished the night with 281 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. On the other side, Winnipeg’s Zach Collaros threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns, while the Bombers’ defense forced three turnovers.
