VANCOUVER, B.C. — It wasn’t always pretty, but the BC Lions once again found a way to get the job done.

The Lions held off the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 27–24 on Saturday night at BC Place, earning their second straight victory and building some momentum as they move through the second half of the CFL season.

The biggest storyline was the return of quarterback Nathan Rourke.

After missing time with a shoulder injury, Rourke returned to the lineup and put together an impressive performance, throwing for 370 yards and two touchdowns. While there was some expected rust, Rourke settled in as the game progressed and helped keep the Lions’ offence moving.

BC also received big performances from two of its top playmakers.

Justin McInnis continued to be a major factor in the passing game, making key catches and giving Rourke a reliable target throughout the night. Jevon Cottoy also made his presence felt, coming up with important plays and helping the Lions keep drives alive when they needed them most.

Running back Zander Horvath added two touchdowns as BC continued to find different ways to put points on the board.
But once again, the Lions needed a big play late.

With the game tied 24–24 in the final minute, Sean Whyte stepped onto the field and delivered. His 24-yard field goal with just 26 seconds remaining put BC ahead for good.

Hamilton had one final opportunity, but the Lions’ defence closed the door to secure another tight victory.

The win improves BC to 3–5 and gives the Lions another important result as they try to climb their way back into the playoff picture.

It was far from a perfect night, but the Lions continue to show they can find answers when the pressure is at its highest.

There won’t be much time to celebrate.

The Lions are right back on the road for Week 11, travelling to Calgary to take on the Calgary Stampeders on Thursday, August 13.

With the playoff race heating up, BC will have to quickly turn the page and get ready for another important Western Division matchup.

The Lions will look to make it three straight wins in Calgary and keep their push up the standings going.
