Surrey Apartment Fire on Scott Road

surrey fireA fire in a Surrey apartment complex Thursday morning left 11 people out in the cold.

The fire broke out at a complex at 84 Ave. and Scott Rd. Boxing Day morning.

People were outside in their pyjamas. Many had blankets wrapped around them wondering what is going to happen next.

Fire and thick smoke came into the building at around 7:30 a.m.

Acting battalion chief Brian Carmichael with the Surrey Fire Department says Emergency Social Services will be taking in tenants who don’t have anywhere to go right now.

“The power and services have been shut off in the building. It will have to be looked at by a city inspector. The fire itself is being investigated by the RCMP,” he explains.

Six units on the top floor were affected. There were no injuries.
