SURREY City Council is making significant investments in outdoor sport infrastructure with the approval of the City’s Five-Year (2024-2028) Financial Plan – Capital Program. The five-year plan earmarks more than $44.9 million towards new, upgraded and enhanced outdoor sport facilities, with more than $16.8 million allocated for 2024.
“I’m proud to announce our commitment to enhancing outdoor sports facilities across Surrey,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke. “These investments will serve the diverse interests and needs of our growing city, enriching recreational opportunities, attracting visitors and elevating Surrey’s profile as a world-class sports hub.”
“From new field hockey fields and artificial turf replacements, to a lacrosse box and upgrades, these capital projects will significantly benefit our local communities,” said Councillor Gord Hepner, Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Sport Tourism Committee. “We have listened to the community and have chosen investments that best respond to those needs. They will foster the overall health and well-being of our residents, promote connections, and create lasting memories for individuals of all ages.”
Key projects moving forward in 2024 include:
- A third field hockey field at Tamanawis Park
