Surrey RCMP investigating report of attempted abduction in Cloverdale

SURREY RCMP are investigating a report of an attempted abduction near an elementary school in Cloverdale.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday, October 16, Surrey RCMP were notified of an incident near Adams Road Elementary School at 18228 68th Avenue. A student reported they were approached by a man driving a black van, who asked them to get inside the vehicle. The student ran back inside the school where staff called the police.

A limited description of the man and the vehicle are available at this time. The vehicle is described as a black van. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man, bald with a beard, wearing an orange-brown shirt.

Surrey RCMP officers are canvassing the area for witnesses and video.

Surrey RCMP added that last week, information was circulated on-line and in the media about a suspicious circumstance involving a group of children approached by a man in a grey Mercedes, in Clayton Heights. As a result of an investigation by Surrey RCMP, the vehicle and the driver involved were identified.  It was determined that there was no attempt to abduct children. The man was in the area, taking photos related to his business.  Â
