Surrey RCMP received 39 calls related to fireworks use

SURREY RCMP on Thursday evening had additional frontline officers working enhanced patrols in addition to working jointly with the Bylaw Enforcement Team who also had additional resources working throughout the evening in connection to Halloween and Diwali celebrations.

Police said that between 4 p.m. on October 31 and 4 a.m. on November 1, they received 340 total calls for service which included 39 calls related to fireworks use.

Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, said thankfully, there were no notable or significant events through the evening. The overall theme was fireworks, with reports of disturbances, mischief, disputes, abandoned 911 calls and suspicious occurrences making up a large portion of the remaining calls for service.
