Surrey RCMP seek information on suspected stolen cigarettes

SURREY RCMP are seeking assistance from the public to gather information on over 200 packages of what are believed to be stolen cigarettes.

More than 200 sealed packages of cigarettes were seized on April 17 by members of the Surrey Mobile Street Enforcement Team (MSET) during a suspicious persons investigation in the 8000-block of King George Boulevard.  It is believed that the cigarettes are stolen property and police are seeking more information from the public, including help to locate the owner.
During the investigation, a man and woman were arrested and released pending further investigation.

“The amount of unopened cigarette packages that were seized by our officers is quite considerable,” said Mobile Street Enforcement Team Staff-Sgt. Neil Kennedy on Wednesday. “We are confident that someone in the community has information that will help us to advance our investigation and to identify the owner of the cigarettes.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if you wish to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca, quoting file number 2020-57318.

Any individuals coming forward to claim ownership of the cigarettes will be asked a series of questions to verify ownership.
