Surrey shooting: one dead, one injured; victims known to police

SURREY RCMP are assisting the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) following a shots-fired incident in the Whalley / City Centre area of Surrey that has left one man dead and one man injured.

On December 1, shortly before 11 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the 13600-block of 114th Avenue after a report of shots fired was received. Police found one dead adult male and one injured male from apparent gunshot wounds. The injured man was transported to hospital in serious condition.

IHIT has been engaged and are actively investigating the incident. The victims are known to police and this is believed to be a targeted incident.

Meanwhile, police are trying to find out if a vehicle that was found in flames in south Burnaby at Fraser Park Drive and Byrne Creek Road in the early morning could be connected to the Surrey shooting.
